emerges as a transformative protocol built upon the robust Avalanche blockchain. This decentralized powerhouse introduces users to two core components: BENQI Markets and BENQI Liquid Staking. They provide an array of opportunities for both seasoned crypto enthusiasts and newcomers to the DeFi landscape.

BENQI Markets

BENQI Markets serve as a dynamic platform within the BENQI protocol, redefining how users engage with their digital assets. The Markets facilitate lending, borrowing, and interest earning, all within a decentralized and permissionless environment. Here's how it works:

Depositing & Borrowing: Users deposit their preferred digital assets, such as AVAX, LINK, or WBTC, which then become accessible for borrowing by other participants. The borrowing process operates on an over-collateralized basis, ensuring the safety of the protocol. As more users seek to borrow, the interest rates rise, creating an engaging ecosystem.

It's like depositing your rare collectibles in a shared vault, and others can borrow from this vault by leaving valuable items as collateral. The catch is, that whatever you put up must be worth more than what you are borrowing. This rule keeps everyone's rare collectibles safe.

qiTokens & Earnings: Depositing assets grants users qiTokens, representing the value of their contribution. These tokens accrue interest, with their value increasing over time. Different assets offer varying Annual Percentage Yields (APY), allowing users to benefit from market dynamics.

Think of qiTokens as certificates of deposit that grow in value as the interest accumulates over time.

Borrowing with Foresight: Imagine someone holding AVAX and anticipating its value is about to surge. Rather than selling, they can leverage their AVAX as collateral to borrow other assets, such as USDt, thus multiplying their investment potential.

It's similar to using your real estate property as collateral to secure a loan for another investment opportunity.

Safety Measures: BENQI prioritizes safety through Health metrics. If Health exceeds 1, all is secure; if it drops, assets may be liquidated to repay debts. Users can bolster their loan health by repaying loans or increasing collateral.

Think of Health as a safety net that automatically sells a small part of your investment to cover potential losses and protect your overall portfolio.

Protocol Parameters: BENQI maintains a balance through parameters like Collateral Factor, Reserve Factor, Close Factor, and Liquidation Incentive, ensuring efficient borrowing while guarding against risks.

It's like adjusting the flow of water in a hydroelectric dam to optimize energy production while preventing flooding. These parameters are regularly adjusted to keep the protocol running smoothly.

BENQI Liquid Staking

BENQI Liquid Staking revolutionizes the use of staked AVAX on the Avalanche network. Typically, staking locks up assets, hindering their use elsewhere. BENQI Liquid Staking changes the game:

Unlocking Liquidity: Users can tokenize their staked AVAX as veQI, preserving rewards and properties. This veQI can be utilized in diverse DeFi applications, expanding financial opportunities without unstaking from Avalanche.

It's like having a certificate of deposit that also acts as a debit card, allowing you to access your funds while still earning interest.

Enhanced Flexibility: Unlike conventional staking, BENQI Liquid Staking allows assets to participate simultaneously in staking rewards and other DeFi functions. AVAX holders can have their cake and eat it too.

It's akin to receiving dividends from your stock investments while also being able to use those stocks as collateral for a loan.

Empowering Voting with veQI: Stakeholders can leverage veQI for voting on validators, influencing delegations, and enhancing network security. More veQI equates to greater voting power.

     Understanding Validators and Delegators:

Validators are comparable to referees in a sports league, ensuring fair play and confirming the legitimacy of transactions. Delegators are like team owners who entrust their assets to validators to participate in network validation. With veQI, users step into the role of team managers, engaging in the process of choosing validators and indirectly shaping delegation patterns.

     Enhancing Network Security:

Validators and delegators collaborate to maintain network stability. Validators validate transactions and produce new blocks, while delegators allocate their assets to validators, sharing in the staking rewards. Through the power of veQI, stakeholders contribute to network security by supporting reliable validators and influencing the allocation of delegations.

Governance and Beyond

BENQI's vision extends beyond protocols. Governance is crucial, and as BENQI matures, it aspires to transition to a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO). Holders of the QI token, a native Avalanche asset, can collectively steer the project's evolution.

Token Breakdown: The QI token supply is divided to incentivize key aspects. Liquidity Mining (45%), Token Sale (25%), Treasury (15%), Team (10%), and Exchange Liquidity (5%) combine to form a comprehensive and sustainable ecosystem.

     Conclusion: BENQI's DeFi Frontier

BENQI represents a thrilling frontier in the DeFi domain. With BENQI Markets, users experience fluid lending, borrowing, and earning, while BENQI Liquid Staking amplifies AVAX utility. By embracing decentralized governance and a forward-looking token distribution, BENQI ushers in a new era of DeFi on the Avalanche network, offering financial opportunities for all.

Thanks for reading FortiFi’s Substack! It represents a flexible building block for programmable liquidity. Wait, what?? In other words, it helps people trade cryptocurrencies easily using special mathematical rules, making it extremely flexible and versatile.

Imagine you have a magical vending machine that can automatically adjust the prices of snacks inside based on how many people want each snack. If everyone suddenly wants chocolate bars, the vending machine will make them a bit more expensive to keep them in stock, while lowering the price of other snacks like chips. It ensures that everyone gets what they want, and the vending machine always has a good selection. That's kind of how Balancer works, but with cryptocurrencies instead of snacks!

Who is Balancer for?

Swappers: People can trade directly with each other.

Liquidity Providers (LPs): They add funds to pools and earn rewards. Similar to lending money and getting interest.

Passive LPs: Earn extra rewards without actively managing their pools. In this series, I will be taking you through decentralized finance protocols, making them accessible and understandable for everyone. Today, we set our sights on Yield Yak, a remarkable platform that combines the power of automated compounding and liquid staking to help you maximize your cryptocurrency holdings.

Introduction

In the ever-evolving landscape of decentralized finance (DeFi), innovative platforms constantly emerge to address the needs and aspirations of crypto enthusiasts. Among these, Yield Yak stands tall as a multifaceted DeFi powerhouse, offering an array of financial services and opportunities that cater to both beginners and seasoned veterans.

Imagine a platform that not only handles the complexities of DeFi for you but also empowers you to maximize your crypto holdings effortlessly. Yield Yak is not just a DeFi protocol; it's your financial companion in the world of digital assets.

In this DeFi Decoded breakdown, we will journey through the intricate corridors of Yield Yak, highlighting its features and value propositions. Whether you're a DeFi novice or an experienced yield hunter, Yield Yak's offerings are designed to simplify your DeFi experience while optimizing your financial outcomes.

Auto-Compounding for Optimized Yield

One of Yield Yak's standout features is its auto-compounding capability, which is like having your financial advisor working 24/7 to make sure your investments grow optimally. Let's break it down:

Pooling Deposits: Imagine you and a group of friends each put $100 into a piggy bank. This piggy bank represents a liquidity pool.

Earning Rewards: Over time, the piggy bank generates extra money (reward tokens) because it's so popular.

Compounding Rewards: Instead of taking the extra money out, you all agree to put it back into the piggy bank. This means the next time rewards are generated, they're calculated not just on your original $100 but on the extra money you put in as well.

This is what Yield Yak does automatically!

The result? You all benefit from the compounding effect without the hassle of manual claiming and reinvesting. This high-frequency compounding optimizes yield and minimizes gas fees, making DeFi farming more accessible and profitable.

DEX Aggregation for Seamless Trading

Yield Yak's DEX aggregator, Yak Swap, is like a smart shopping assistant for traders. Here's how it helps:

Best Price Search: Imagine you want to buy a product online, and you have to check multiple websites to find the best price. Yak Swap does this for you in the DeFi world, finding the best price for your token swaps across different exchanges on Avalanche.

Price Slippage Management: Think of price slippage as getting a fair deal when trading. Yak Swap ensures you get the most value out of your trades by considering this factor.

One-Click Execution: Instead of going to different shops to buy parts for a project, you can get everything you need in one place. Yak Swap streamlines the process by allowing you to swap assets across different exchanges with just one click.

Liquid Staking with yyAVAX

Yield Yak introduces yyAVAX, a liquid staking token representing AVAX assets staked on the Avalanche P-Chain. Here's how it benefits users:

Double-Dipping Rewards: yyAVAX not only collects rewards for securing the Avalanche network but also lets you use those rewards to earn more rewards in DeFi. You can earn interest on your existing money while also investing in additional assets.

Price Appreciation: yyAVAX is designed to grow in value compared to AVAX itself.

Flexible Withdrawals: Traditional staking can be like locking your money in a safe for a long time. You can withdraw or use your yyAVAX whenever you want.

Unlocking the Power of YAK Tokens in Yield Yak

Yield Yak's native token, YAK, is at the heart of its ecosystem, with a fixed supply of only 10,000. YAK tokens within the Yield Yak ecosystem aren't just numbers on a screen; they're versatile assets that provide various strategies and opportunities for users.

Let's delve deeper into how YAK tokens empower you within the Yield Yak ecosystem:

YAK Staking

Staking YAK tokens in the Yield Yak ecosystem provides several benefits:

Earn AVAX: By staking YAK tokens, you can earn AVAX rewards.

Stake-and-Forget: Once you stake your YAK tokens, you don't need to actively manage them. They work for you automatically, compounding your rewards over time.

Staking YAK tokens is a straightforward way to earn passive income while contributing to the security and governance of the Yield Yak ecosystem. The YAK ARC (Automated Reward Collector) automatically converts and distributes fees to designated payees, including stakers and contributors. By holding YAK tokens, you're entitled to a share of the platform's fee revenue, further incentivizing long-term YAK token ownership.

Participate in Governance

YAK tokens grant you voting power within the Yield Yak community, allowing you to influence the platform's decisions. Here's how it works:

Voting Power: Your influence in community decisions is proportional to the number of YAK tokens you hold.

Protocol Decisions: You can actively participate in voting on proposals and decisions related to the platform's development, features, and governance parameters.

Whether you're looking for ways to earn passive income, actively participate in shaping the Yield Yak ecosystem, or access liquidity without giving up your YAK tokens, YAK tokens provide you with a variety of strategies and opportunities within the DeFi landscape. As Yield Yak continues to evolve and innovate, YAK tokens remain at the center of its ecosystem, offering value and utility to the community,

Thank you for reading!

Disclaimer: This article is for educational purposes only and is not financial advice.

For the latest updates on Yield Yak, please visit Yield Yak's official website.

Thanks for reading FortiFi’s Substack! Let's dive in further to see how FortiFi will be utilizing some unique strategies to help grow your assets and discover how it may be able to open some exciting opportunities in the realm of DeFi.

What is FortiFi?

FortiFi is designed as a high-tech secure vault for digital assets. Similar to how a bank vault holds your money, FortiFi Vaults holds your cryptocurrencies. Each of these vaults contains a different sub-strategy, which can be thought of as different investment strategies, like putting your money in different types of businesses. When you deposit your cryptocurrency into a Vault, it automatically gets divided and invested into these different strategies to earn you more cryptocurrency. The best part? All of this happens with just a single click.

FortiFi will be rolling out two different types of vaults: SAMS Vaults and MASS Vaults.

Single Asset Multi Strategy (SAMS) Vaults: This type of vault will be rolled out first. You deposit one type of cryptocurrency, and it gets turned into many different investments automatically. It's like trading one type of candy for a variety of candies in a single candy jar. The variety of candies represents the different protocols Fortifi will utilize to generate yield. The three initial SAMS Vaults will be centered around USDC, BTC.b, and sAVAX.

<picture></picture>

<g>

</g><polyline points="15 3 21 3 21 9"></polyline><polyline points="9 21 3 21 3 15"></polyline><line x1="21" x2="14" y1="3" y2="10"></line><line x1="3" x2="10" y1="21" y2="14"></line>

Ex: A user deposits $35 into the USDC SAMS Vault. Each Vault will get 600 FORT tokens to give to the people who use it. A snapshot will be utilized to determine who will be eligible for the airdrop.

Long Term: As the protocol matures, FortiFi will have a more permanent way to give out rewards. People who own FORT tokens can cast votes to decide which specific Vaults get rewards. The more FORT tokens you have, the more your vote counts. The Vaults that get the most votes will get more FORT tokens as rewards. These rewards will happen every month, and it's all decided by the community.

Token Vesting

A vesting period is in place for the tokens that are distributed via the presale or held by the team. This just means there is a delay before they can be used. There are graphs that illustrate these vesting period in the official docs.

Conclusion

And there you have it, a more simplified insight into FortiFi! To truly get the full picture I encourage all to check out the official documentation that can be found via the Fortifi website.
